Bahrain International Airport

Reduce travellers' stress through carpet design

The public departure hall welcomes passengers and those accompanying family or friends to the airport. The layout of this space conveys a strong impression of entering “the airport of the future”. Passing through control measures that lead to check-in counters, passengers prepare to leave for another region or continent, so the visual identity of the public hall transitions to an environment that helps to ease the stress of departure. Passport control is the most stressful step in the departure process so information, signage, the interior finishing and a cooler atmosphere reassure travellers. Once controls are passed, stress is alleviated and passengers can relax and enjoy going shopping, sitting in a coffee shop or waiting for their flight in a boarding lounge. This is where the journey truly begins.

Custom carpets and rugs by curated artists

When entering the rooms of Hotel Indigo, guests immediately notice the bespoke rugs, generously sized and prominently staged as one of the important interior elements. Designed by various curated artists, each rug is imagined as a work of art and created to be an eye-catching standalone centrepiece in the room. Though the rugs for each type of guest room are individual, they all add personality, ambience and a contemporary touch to the interior.

The rebirth of a mythical place

Offering a selection of superior rooms, deluxe rooms, suites and the Opéra Suite, the latter designed as a true Parisian apartment, all hotel guests benefit from top-of-the-range amenities. Each room type has been carefully evaluated with regard to usage and demands in order to specify the perfect carpet.

While the custom designed carpet surface brings beauty and atmosphere to the location, the various backing types offer a range of practical benefits promoting personal wellbeing. To prevent noise from travelling to adjoining rooms, sound absorbing acoustic backing is specified for all corridors.

Uniting Swedish nature with the pulsating city life

Very true to the conceptual ideas behind Downtown Camper by Scandic, the architecture and interior design is modern and playfully combines the softness of the nearby scenery with raw city inspired elements like concrete. To create the perfect conditions for spontaneity and social intercourse whilst also making room for privacy and relaxation the unique Camper Co-Living room category plays an important role.

The scene is set for a sensuous hotel

The scene is set for a sensuous hotel stay as interior architect Judith Van Mourik has incorporated the historical feeling in every single detail of the décor, always keeping in mind the estate’s history, its monumental buildings and the gorgeous play of light inside. Classic oak and brass elements are combined with modern designer furniture and decorations as well as natural materials like marble.

The décor elements are matched to reinforce each other and create a certain tension between classic and contemporary design expressions. For the third floor suites, Judith Van Mourik has specified the Papillions and Nuages carpet designs from the Atelier by Monsieur Christian Lacroix collection.

A close collaboration from the concept stage always ensures the success of a project and therefore, the global presence of Ege Carpets was crucial for us.

Bringing History to Life at Hotel Danmark

The decoration of Thorvaldsens Museum, and thereby the hotel corridor carpet designs, reflect the geographical locations that influenced Thorvaldsen’s life. Grey and brown tones from weather-beaten driftwood and lava stone found on the shores of Iceland complete the understated mosaic patterns of the coarse knitted sweater.
