Why do Ege Carpets offer voluntary CO2 compensation?
While it is our business to create exceptional carpets, we’ve always considered it our ethical duty to help inspire progress in society. As a carpet manufacturer, it’s impossible not to have a production footprint, but for years we’ve strived to reduce the negative and increase the positive factors.
As part of our many sustainability focused projects, we offer climate compensated carpets where you can contribute to a carbon neutral future.
Why mangrove trees?
Mangrove forests are among the most productive, resilient, and adaptable eco-systems on Earth. Mangroves reduce up to 5 times more CO2 emissions than other trees in the rainforests while also protecting coastal areas from extreme weather conditions.
What does it cost?
The carpet’s CO2 emission is calculated based on its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and covers its full lifecycle including maintenance and disposal. Based on 10 years’ use, the extra cost is on average €0.12 cent per m2 depending on the individual carpet’s CO2 emission.
A few examples of extra costs based on 10 year’s expected use:
* ReForm Memory with Ecotrust 350 backing €0.102m2
* Highline 1100 with Ecotrust 350 backing €0.107/m
