ege was founded by Mads Eg Damgaard in 1938. Today, ege is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of textile flooring. Mads Eg Damgaard was a visionary. His philosophy was uncompromising: he used only the latest and most advanced technology in carpet production and he was not afraid to challenge convention. His philosophy survives at ege.
In 1985, ege was listed for the first time as a public limited company in Denmark: egetæpper a/s. The group's primary activities are production and sales of tufted carpets for the contract and domestic markets.
The carpet production takes place at:
Ege, Herning, Denmark: Production and sale of patterned, tufted and flat-woven carpets.
Ege, Gram, Denmark: Production of tufted and flat-woven carpets
Bentzon Carpets, Røjle, Denmark: Production of flatwoven carpets.
Hammer Carpets, Herning, Denmark: Production of colortech and axminster
Litspin, Lithuania: Production of wool yarns.
In addition to our factories in Denmark, the ege carpets group owns subsidiaries in Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, the UK, China, and the United Arab Emirates. Those are ege's key markets. ege also has a network of agents and distributors in 48 different countries.
ege focuses primarily on the contract market:
In the domestic carpets market, ege concentrates its efforts in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Our customers are primarily retail chains and independent retail stores.
The ege sales organisation takes care of carpet sales from the main office in Herning and through our subsidiary companies and agents/distributors.
ege is managed by CEO Svend Aage Færch Nielsen and SEO John Vestergaard.
